Owen Hall

New Media is located in Owen Hall on UNC Asheville's beautiful mountain campus. Here, the New Media facility, which opened in 2022, was custom-designed by faculty to meet the needs of the department, including bespoke labs and studios that students and faculty use to produce, create + edit dynamic projects. 

Labs + Studios

  • Two 20-seat Mac teaching labs designed in-the-round.

  • Fabrication lab with 3D printers, laser cutter, waterjet, digital embroidery, and glass facilities.

  • ​Stop Motion animation studio.

  • Video/VR/Motion capture studio.
  • ​2-Station editing suite.

Exhibition + Lounge

  • 670 square-foot gallery space with 4-wall projection capabilities.

  • Project space for student installation and Senior Capstone projects.

  • Student lounge

Other Spaces + Resources

  • 20-seat virtual reality game production lab in Karpen Hall, shared with Computer Science.

  • Equipment check-out for students in New Media classes.
